Ahh, Biketoberfest

Four days is just not long enough for this biker party.

By October, almost every show or event associated with motorcycles and cars is about over, and all work and no play makes Donna a very cranky person. My husband just had to say the word, and my plane tickets were in hand.

Smack-dab in the middle of frost and turning leaves there is an escape, and it's to another awesome biker party in Daytona, Fla.: Biketoberfest.

Daytona was a balmy 91 degrees. Perfect motorcycle weather, and they did come. Hundreds of bikes jam-packed the famous Main Street from one end to the other.

Music, food, entertainment, raffles and more were had at the many favorite venues including Wise Guys Watering Hole. Our local boys from East Side Custom Choppers organized a production of music, food, bikes and fun for the many who came in to get a bit of shade from the heat. On display were the best of the best of East Side Custom Choppers creations including, most appropriately, the Wise Guys Chopper. Crowds started to gather as the New York band Sundown started playing its Southern rock tunes. The Ice Cream Man From Hell was also on hand signing his new book "Ice Cream Man From Hell Biography: You're Next." I got my autographed copy but have yet to read it because my husband can't seem to put it down.

Down a little way, the crew from Indian Larry Legacy displayed Larry's "art," and Paul Cox was on hand to talk with visitors. Seeing the ol' question mark was a breath of fresh air.

As the sun went down and it got a little cooler, the bikes really started to come out. All you have to do is find a spot on Main Street and watch the sights.

But Main Street wasn't the only place to be. The Rat's Hole Bike Show was at a new location at Daytona Lagoon, and the Boardwalk Bike Show was something not to be missed. There are so many events and so many things to do and unfortunately so little time. But there's always next year.
